Fast main track and good turf course. Two front running sprint winners on dirt (7f, 6.5f). On the turf course, a stalking favorite won the 6f opener, a stalker won as the chalk in the next 6f turf sprint, a dueling front running favorite tallied at 9f, a stalker won the Senorita (G3) on the hillside course, a 7-1 front runner tallied at 9f, and an 8-1 front runner scored in the 6f finale (rail at 20 feet).
Hat trick for Abdul Alsagoor (2 dirt sprints). Riding doubles for Hector Berrios and Edwin Maldonado (turf). Phil D’Amato saddled two turf winners.
Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 5-6-23
Lazaro Barrera (7f): One in Vermillion ($12.00) got to the front from the inside post, dueled with Hard to Figure, put that one away, and pulled clear to win by 5 1/4 lengths. Navy Man rallied from last to pick up the place and Tahoe Sunrise and Hard to Figure rounded out the order of finish. The final time was 1:22.77.
Senorita (G3): Procrastination and Fast and Shiny battled on the pace. Teena Ella ($7.00) was in a good stalking spot under Maldonado, and she hit the front and held off late running longshot Tom’s Regret to score by a neck. The Wild Grazer (IRE) was an even third from the inside post, and Procrastination, Fast and Shiny, and Chismosa also ran. The final time for this downhill sprint was 1:12.36.
The 20 cent Rainbow 6 pool was $81,150, and multiple tickets with six winners paid $1,266.90. The jackpot carryover stands at $18,580.

On the turf course, a 3-1 stalker scored at 6.5f, a 3-2 stalker won the Singletary at 1 1/8 miles, a 3-1 stalker tallied at one mile, a 7-1 front runner scored at 6f, and a 16-1 stalker upset the flat mile finale (rail at 10 feet).

Singletary (9T): Wizard of Westwood set the pace and almost stole this one at 7-1, but post time favorite Mi Hermano Ramon ($5.00) rallied and nailed him on the line. Wizard of Westwood held the place by a half-length over Escape Artist (raced evenly). Game Time, Malibu Coast, and Eastbound also ran. The final time was 1:48.70.
