Horse Comments:
#4 Lady Rider (5-1) stretched out and moved forward in a clear runner-up finish at one mile second time out (12 lengths clear of the show). She was 1.30-1 in a $20k flat mile dirt race June 15 and she was a clear, distant third. Vladimir Cerin claimed her last time and Antonio Fresu strings along, and she sports two local works for this.
#10 Severe Clear (7-2) is a surface switching CA-bred MSW dropper for 24% trainer Dean Pederson. She adds blinkers and shows a pair of local works for this.
#3 Eastwick (3-1) is out of the straight maiden ranks and Mandella is 25% with MSW droppers (5-for-20 – 70% ITM). Kazushi Kimura strings along and she might wake up at this level.
#7 Ready to Dare (6-1) dropped, returned to dirt, and pressed, led, and ended up a clear second June 15, and she was 7 1/2 lengths in front of Lady Rider. She earned decent pace ratings last time and should make her presence felt throughout under William Antongeorgi.
#1 Big Whoosh (8-1) dropped from state bred MSW to Mcl-50k, and she turned back, switched surfaces, and raced wide and ended up 5th of 7 (beaten 3.75 lengths) May 3. She stretches back out and her new rider Diego Herrera is 3-for-8 with Leonard Powell.
