Primary – #2 K P ALL SYSTEMS GO, #6 Smooth Like Strait
Secondary – #7 Storm the Court
Wagers: #2 to win, Quinella 2/6-7, Trifecta 6-7/ALL/2
Comments: #2 K P All Systems Go (6-1) had an uncomfortable trip as my top choice in the Oceanside last time. I called it an odd journey in my stakes recap. He was next-to-last early and launched a premature wide move on the backside. He continued wide in the lane and flattened out, and had a shot to at least run 2nd if he was able to sit back a make a late run. I am playing him back. #6 Smooth Like Strait (5-2) is a solid early-pressing threat for McCarthy. He won the local Cecil B. DeMille (G3) last fall, and exits a smart prominent throughout victory in War Chant under the Twin Spires. He looks like the one to catch. #7 Storm the Court (3-1) is classy enough to take this. Last year’s BC Juvenile (G1) upsetter has placed in three other stakes, and his tactical speed should lead to a good trip. Dam has produced a turf winner and Prat strings along.
