Merneith dueled from the rail under aggressive pilot Edwin Maldonado, and the horse she was battling with was her stablemate Golden Principal. The former kicked clear in the stretch and scored by 2-1/4 lengths, and Bob Baffert’s filly has turned into a decent sprinter. Golden Principal easily held the place over stalker Qahira, and those three runners gave Baffert the trifecta in this seven panel affair. Biddy Duke chased the place and completed the superfecta, and the speed kept on going in this affair. Amuse was next, followed by Proud Emma, Hard Not to Love, Fair Maiden, and Secret Keeper.

Nimbostratus (FR) stalked from the inside post and my top choice Pizzazz was in a good stalking spot outside, but the latter took a bad step, drifted out, was steered wide by Mike Smith, and she eased and walked off. Overseas shipper Going Global (IRE) was patiently handled inside, and Prat angled her out and she set sail after Five Pics Please in the lane. She had all of the momentum and surged late to score by a half-length. Five Pics Please held 2nd over Nimbostratus. Beaten favorite Majestic Steps (IRE) got up for 4th and was followed by Squared Shady, I’m So Anna, Plum Sexy, Freedom Flyer, Royal Address (IRE), Magical Thought, Go Greta (GB), and Pizzazz.

The latter was able to sit the right stalking trip, and she took over when the overmatched longshot faded, and she had plenty left to hold off quality late runner Oleksandra (AUS). Constantia was up for 3rd in a 3-way photo with Guitty (FR) and beaten favorite Lighthouse. So Much Happy bled and Aqua Seaform Shame eased and walked off.
