Bohemian Bourbon was intent on the lead from the rail and Prat wisely sat just off that one with strong favorite Charmaine’s Mia. The latter pushed to the lead, edged clear, and held nicely to score by a length over Mucho Unusual. The latter sat a great stalking trip and secured the place by a bit less than a length over my late running value top choice Warren’s Showtime. Going to Vegas and Red Lark (IRE) were next, and Sloane Garden (GB), Heathers Grey, Bohemian Bourbon, and Sedamar rounded out the order of finish. The top three finishers all ran quality races. Charmaine’s Mia proved that she could handle two turns and Mucho Unusual continues to race in top form. Warren’s Showtime is a talented CA-bred filly with an affinity for this course and distance.

In this CA-bred dirt sprint stakes for fillies and mares, returnee Bella Vita was the overwhelming favorite and she dominated. She stalked from the outside post, took over after a half-mile, and spurted well clear to win by 4-1/2 lengths for Flavien Prat and Simon Callaghan. She’s a Dime stalked and was second best, and Dr Wysong was up for 3rd. Cassie Belle, Hollywood Hills, Hotitude, and Square Peggy also ran.
