SA 6 (G2 SA Oaks, 8.5f) #1 Moraz (8-5) broke my heart as my top choice in the Santa Ysabel (G3) at this course/distance March 7. She pressed outside in a 4-horse field, took over turning for home, and got nailed on the line. Rispoli had that one wrapped up but looked back to see if anyone was coming, and Beautiful Gift was out in the middle and bearing down. Top notch rider Rispoli probably wins last time if he does not look around and he won’t make the same mistake twice. She improved her numbers in all four starts.
SA 8 (G1 SA Derby, 9f) #2 Dream Shake (7-2) drew a favorable inner post and might work out the right ground saving trip behind the speed. He blasted home in his sprint bow and stalked and ended up 2+ lengths behind Medina Spirit in a show finish in the San Felipe (G2) March 6. Prat takes the call and I can see him making up a couple of lengths on the favorite in his second route attempt. The added distance is the main hurdle.
