LRC 8 ($75k E. B. Johnston Stakes, CA-bred, 8T) #6 DESMOND DOSS (3-1) finished 1-2 in all five dirt starts on a fast track. He won the Bertrando Stakes at this course/distance June 26 and projects an outside stalking trip under his new rider Kyle Frey. #5 Galilean (9-5) used to be good enough to win a race like this but tailed off at the end of his 2020 campaign and did not seriously threaten in either of his two starts this year. He is 3-for-3 at LRC and 2-for-2 at 8f, and getting back on dirt might lead to a better effort. Wagers: #6 to win, Exacta 6-5
