Santa Anita Recap for Saturday (10-30-21)

Fast main track and firm turf course. One dueling front running winner at 6.5f on dirt. Pressers and stalkers won the other four main track races. On the turf course, the stalking favorite won the 9f opener, a dueling front runner tallied at 6f, a stalker won down the hill, a midpack stalker captured the Autumn Miss (G3) at 8f, and a closer won the flat mile finale.

Three more wins for leading rider Flavien Prat. Riding doubles for Juan Hernandez and Umberto Rispoli. On the trainer side, Doug O’Neill saddled two winners.

Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 10-30-21

My top choice Zero Tolerance showed the way for much of the race in the Autumn Miss (G3) for flat mile turf fillies, but she weakened in the lane and ended up 4th. Burgoo Alley ($12.60) was always within striking range and reeled in pace presser Spanish Loveaffair to score by a half-length. Umberto Rispoli gave the winner a smart ride and the pilot made all the difference in this one. Javanica saved ground, waited for room, and got past Zero Tolerance late to land the show. Eddie’s New Dream, Freedom Flyer, Madone, and Ego Trip also ran. The final time was 1:34.37.

The 20 cent Rainbow 6 pool was $311,480, and multiple tickets with six winners paid $293.12. The jackpot carryover stands at $796,178, and there is a mandatory payout on closing Sunday, Oct. 31.

Santa Anita Recap for Sunday (10-31-21)

Fast main track and firm turf course. One front running winner at 6f on dirt. Pressers and stalkers won the other three main track races. On the turf course, the stalking favorite won the 5f opener, a stalker won at 9f, a last-to-first closer won at 6f, a last-to-first closer won at 9f, a stalker won down the hill, and a stalker won the 9f meet finale in the Twilight Derby (G2).

Juan Hernandez guided home three turf winners. Leading rider Flavien Prat booted home a pair. Kent D and Vladimir Cerin teamed up for two wins. Doug O’Neill saddled two winners.

Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 10-31-21

My top choice Subconscious ($7.80) was bet down from his 6-1 morning line odds in the Twilight Derby (G2), and he chased pacesetting chalk Rock Your World. Juan Hernandez always had the early leader in his sights, and he made his move around the far turn. Rock Your World was done at this point and Subconscious took the lead and steered clear to win by a length and a quarter. Cathkin Peak (IRE) was up for 2nd and Beyond Brilliant stalked the pace and held 3rd over Hudson Ridge. Flashiest and Zoffarelli (IRE) were next, and they were followed by Jungle Cry, None Above the Law, Rock Your World, and Wootton Asset (FR). The final time was 1:47.00.

The 20 cent Rainbow 6 pool was $4,593,444, and multiple tickets with six winners paid $12,164,96.
