Eda was the overwhelming favorite vs. four rivals in the Desi Arnaz Stakes. She looked like the controlling speed from the outside post but her stablemate Under the Stars added blinkers and set the pace. Eda ($2.40) pressed outside, edged away from her front running stablemate Under the Stars, turned away stalker Tonito’s, and won by 4+ lengths. Tonito’s grabbed 2nd over Under the Stars, and they were well clear of Lady T. The latter ducked in sharply shortly after the start, and she straightened up, made a wide move, and ran out of steam in the lane. Endless Thirst trailed. The final time for 6.5f was 1:15.53.

Del Mar Stakes Recaps for 11-14-21

The Bob Hope Stakes (G3) was reduced to four entrants following the defection of Rock N Rye. The start was eventful. Forbidden Kingdom stumbled and broke outward. Winning Map broke inward and bumped with his stablemate Kamui, and Messier had a smooth beginning from the rail. Forbidden Kingdom was the early leader, and Winning Map recovered and went up to press the pace outside the early leader. Kamui sat in 3rd and Messier was patiently handled at the back. Forbidden Kingdom never let Winning Map go by and smartly kept that one at bay, but Messier ($4.40) rumbled past them all in the stretch to win by a comfortable 3+ lengths. Forbidden Kingdom was second best and Winning Map checked in an okay 3rd. Kamui trailed. Flavien Prat rode the winner for Bob Baffert and the final time was 1:22.74.
