Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 4-30-22

Kona Gold (G3): Brickyard Ride ($2.80) was the strong favorite against three rivals. The razor sharp CA-bred horse easily sped to the early lead, stayed clear throughout, and won under wraps by 2-1/4 lengths. Tigre Di Slugo rallied to finish a clear 2nd and was followed by Strike That and Miles Ahead.

Californian (G2): Another easy front running winner in a short field. Stilleto Boy ($6.00) cleared early, swatted away strong favorite Express Train, and sailed across the line by 2-1/4 lengths. Express Train was a country mile in front of Spielberg and Holden the Lute trailed.

Santa Margarita (G2): Blue Stripe-ARG ($14.80) stalked contested fractions and wore down race favorite Miss Bigly to score by a length. The latter was 6+ clear of late running show finisher Varda and stalker Bye Bye Bertie completed the superfecta at 17-1. My top choice Park Avenue set the pace and weakened to 5th. Lisette, Midnight Jamboree, Bellamore, and Sharapova pressed the pace and faded to last.

The 20 cent Rainbow 6 pool was $193,284, and multiple tickets with six winners paid $5,219.54. The jackpot carryover stands at $108,508.

Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 5-1-22

Wilshire Stakes (G3): Canoodling ($9.60) was perfectly handled by Juan Hernandez. Eddie’s New Dream stalked the pace and held 2nd over late runner England’s Rose. Amy C (GB) was 4th and was followed by Javanica, beaten favorite Keyflower (FR), Stella Noir, and tiring pace prompter Quiet Secretary.

The 20 cent Rainbow 6 pool was $187,297, and multiple tickets with six winners paid $4,002.28. The jackpot carryover stands at $151,390.
