On the turf course, a stalker sitting behind dueling front runners won the 6f opener, a closer scored at 6f, a stalker tallied at 8f, a closer moved ‘em down to graduate at 8f, an inside dueler won down the hill, and a closer from an outer post captured the 9f finale.
Abel Cedillo (dirt sprints) and Juan Hernandez both booted home a pair. Phil D’Amato (turf) and Sean McCarthy (dirt sprints) both saddled two winners.

Senorita (G3): Baby Steps set the pace from the outside post at 18-1 odds. Sterling Crest (IRE) pulled like she usually does and chased inside, and my top choice Island of Love (IRE) sat a cozy outside stalking trip in 3rd. The latter made the lead in the stretch under Juan Hernandez and edged away to win by 2-1/4 lengths. Sterling Crest held 2nd and Baby Steps weakened to 3rd. Fuente Ovejuna (GB), beaten favorite Lucky Girl (IRE), and Delmona (IRE) also competed.
May 7 Claims: Race 4 – Tequila Tigre ($20k, Steve Knapp). Race 6 – Busy Paynter ($12.5k, Milton Pineda), Flat Out Joy ($12.5k, Dan Azcarate), Take a Leap ($12.5k, Reed Saldana).

Hat track for Ramon Vazquez included a pair in turf sprints. Riding doubles for Abel Cedillo and Juan Hernandez. On the trainer side, Phil D’Amato saddled two winners.

Angels Flight: Significant scratch of Eda altered the pace scenario mightily. Returnee Elm Drive ($6.00) made the early lead, set a very controlled tempo, and had plenty left to score by 2-1/4 lengths. Kirstenbosch rallied from last in the compact field to finish a clear 2nd in a quality effort considering the race shape. Empire Gal chased outside and was best of the rest in 3rd. Unsolved Mystery and Classical Romance also ran. The final time for seven panels on fast dirt was 1:23.97.
