Del Mar Stakes Recaps for 8-27-22

Pat O’Brien (G2): Speaker’s Corner was the favorite and he got to the front but never got a breather. The “other” Baffert angle was on full display in this heat. Laurel River ($15.80) stalked, waited for room, found it, and kicked away to win by 3-3/4 lengths under leading rider Hernandez. American Theorem rallied wide and landed the place over closer Senor Buscador. Speaker’s Corner weakened to 4th and was followed by The Chosen Vron, my beaten top choice Defunded (Baffert), Get Her Number, C Z Rocket, Principe Carlo, and Restrainedvengence. The final time for 7f was 1:21.37.
