Santa Anita Recap for Friday (9-30-22)

Fast main track and firm turf course. Four front running winners on a speed favoring dirt oval (6f, 7f, 8f, 6f). On the turf course, a midpack closer graduated in the 8f opener, a stalker scored down the hill, a front runner earned her diploma at 8f, a stalking favorite broke his maiden at 6f, and a midpack stalker graduated in the flat mile finale (rail at 20 feet).

Juan Hernandez booted home a pair. Peter Miller saddled two winners.

The 20 cent Rainbow 6 pool was $94,571, and one ticket with six winners paid $72,175.40.

Santa Anita Recap for Saturday (10-1-22)

Fast main track and firm turf course. One front running winner at a mile and an eighth on dirt. On the turf course, a closer won the 8f opener, a front runner captured the John Henry Turf Championship (G2) at 10f, a front runner stole the City of Hope Mile (G2), a midpack stalker upset the Eddie D (G2) at 6.5f, the pressing favorite won the Unzip Me on the hillside course, and an outside stalker graduated in the 6f finale.

Kyle Frey (turf) and Umberto Rispoli both booted home a pair. Bob Baffert (dirt routes), Phil D’Amato (turf), and Mark Glatt (graded sprints) each saddled two winners. Victor Espinoza and John Shirreffs teamed up for two turf wins.

The 20 cent Rainbow 6 pool was $204,083, and multiple tickets with six winners paid $12,114.26. The jackpot carryover stands at $46,726.

On the turf course, a stalking favorite graduated in the 8f opener, a front running favorite earned her diploma at 8f, a pressing favorite won the Speakeasy at 5f, a front running favorite graduated at 6f, a slow starting 40-1 longshot scored from off the pace down the hill, and a 12-1 outsider rallied to win the 9f finale (rail at 10 feet).

Riding double for Juan Hernandez (turf) and Ramon Vazquez (dirt routes stakes). On the trainer side, Bob Baffert (stakes) and Doug O’Neill (2yo turf routes) both saddled two winners.

The 20 cent Rainbow 6 pool was $226,968, and multiple tickets with six winners paid $1,845.82. The jackpot carryover stands at $98,692.
