Hector Berrios (turf sprints) and Juan Hernandez (dirt sprints) both booted home a pair. Phil D’Amato saddled two more turf winners including Hong Kong Harry in the Seabiscuit Handicap (G2).
Del Mar Stakes Recaps for 11-26-22
Grade 2 Seabiscuit Handicap (8.5T): Flavien Prat timed this one perfectly. The pace was honest with Masteroffoxhounds leading and Smooth Like Strait chasing. The internal fractions were lively and the patient runners were coming. Beyond Brilliant moved first but Masteroffoxhounds refused to crack. Hong Kong Harry ($5.20) made a late bid and surged to score by a neck in a three-horse photo. Beyond Beyond Brilliant was 2nd and Masteroffoxhounds was clear of the rest in 3rd. The latter ran too good to lose considering the race shape. Santin was an even 4th under Rispoli, and Irideo (ARG), Set Piece (GB), Smooth like Strait, and Kentucky Ghost also ran. The final time was 1:39.79.

Del Mar Recap for Sunday (11-27-22)
Fast main track and firm turf course. One dueling front running sprint winner at 6f on dirt. The other two dirt winners pounced from 2nd. On the turf course, a dueling first timer forgot to stop at 25-1 in the state bred MSW opener at 8f, a closing favorite tallied at 5f, a 2-1 closer won at 9f, a closing favorite got the job done at 8f, and a 7-2 front runner held on at 8.5f (rail at 12 feet).
George Papaprodromou saddled two winners.
Del Mar Stakes Recaps for 11-27-22
Grade 3 Native Diver (9f): Defunded ($3.40) was much the best as the favorite. He broke slow under Maldonado, and he recovered rather quickly and moved up outside to press Go Joe Won. The latter tried hard but could not keep up with Defunded. The latter took over outside and had control of the race heading into the stretch. He cruised across the line 4+ lengths in front of his stablemate Azul Coast. The runner-up captured this event last year but struggled since. He was off slow under Johnny V, and got caught in traffic before rallying wide and completing the exacta. My value top choice Newgrange stalked, dropped back, and kept plugging away under Ricky Gonzalez. He was best of the rest in 3rd. Go Joe Won weakened to 4th and Tizamagician and Parnelli also ran. The final time was 1:50.12.
Nov. 27 Claims: Race 9 – If Id Told You ($32k, George Papaprodromou).
