Weather: Temperatures in the high 50’s with low chance of showers
R10: $75,000 Sunshine Sprint Stakes (6F, Dirt, FL Bred, 4yr Old’s +)
#4 – Legends Can’t Die (3-1): Finished second last time out in an Optional Claiming 62K at long odds over the dirt. Prior to that race, the grey gelding had only run over the grass with two wins from five starts. Most of the early speed will come from his inside so if he breaks well, he should be tough to beat. #3- Unsociable (7-2): Has five wins from eight starts, all coming over the synthetic. This will be his first try on dirt and he gets a rider upgrade to Irad Ortiz Jr. #2 – Gatsby (4-1) won this race last year and had a nice tune up for this spot back in early December. Luis Saez is back aboard for the repeat. Plays: #4 to Win, Exacta 4 – 2/3
R9: $75,000 Sunshine Filly & Mare Turf Stakes (8F, Turf, FL Bred Fillies & Mares, 4yr Old’s +)
#2 – Avow (4-1): Moves to the turf for Todd Pletcher and one of her siblings won over the turf so it shouldn’t be that much of a stretch. Last time out, she ran second in an 8F contest over the dirt in 1:35.60 so if she can replicate her form over the dirt she should be tough. #4 – Sweet Dani Girl (7-2) is also trying the grass for the first time and this one has the best back class of the race. I imagine Rosario gets her to the lead early and she has won off the layoff before. #9 – Mona Stella (10-1) comes out of an off-the-turf event on December 18th and should improve moving back to the grass. She’s 2-for-3 at this distance and I think she can grab a piece here. Plays: #2 to Win, Exacta 2 – 4/9
