Comments: #6 Phosphorescence (5-1) had his numbers jump up in his last pair. He battled through strong fractions and gamely graduated by a half-length in a flat mile turf race March 12, and showed a new dimension when rallying to finish second in the Cal Derby on the all-weather surface. #7 Harcyn (6-1) is either a sprinter or he wants the early lead, or possibly both. He got tired late in a show finish in the El Camino Real Derby at 9f Feb. 11, and stayed on nicely when finishing third by a length at one mile March 31. He added blinkers and stalked, led, and weakened to fourth in the Cal Derby at 8.5f April 29. This slightly shorter distance helps but it still might be too far, and he might move up in his third start after a layoff. He must prove that he can handle turf as well.
