Del Mar Recap for Thursday (8-10-23)

Fast main track and firm turf course. Two front running winners on dirt (5.5f, 8f). On the turf course, a 4-1 stalker graduated at first asking at 5f, a 6-1 front runner tailed at 5f, and a 7-1 stalker captured the flat mile finale (rail at 24 feet).

Jose Valdivia Jr. booted home a pair of turf winners.

Fast main track and firm turf course. One front running sprint winner at 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt. Tactical types won the other four main track races. On the turf course, a stalking favorite graduated from the inside post at 5f, a dueling front runner earned her diploma at 5-1 odds at five panels, and a front running favorite held on by a head from the inside post at one mile (rail at 24 feet).

Hat trick for Kent Desormeaux. Riding double for Antonio Fresu (sprints). Jeff Bonde saddled two winners and Kent D rode both.

July 24 Claims: Race 2 – Chicknfingerfriday ($20k, Bill McLean), Mr. T’s Thirsty ($20k, Gary Stute). Race 7 – Corporal Violette ($32k, Manuel Ortiz Sr.), Dolly May ($32k, Vladimir Cerin).

Fast main track and firm turf course. Four front running winners on dirt (8f, 6f, 6f, 5.5f). The other two dirt winners tracked the pace. On the turf course, a stalking favorite win the flat mile opener, a 9-2 closer made a bold early move under Rispoli and graduated at 1 1/6 miles, a 9-2 stalker scored at 5f, and an inside stalking favorite won the Grade 2 Yellow Ribbon (rail at 12 feet).

Four wins for Juan Hernandez. Riding doubles for Hector Berrios (dirt) and Umberto Rispoli (turf routes). Bob Baffert saddled two winners and Hernandez rode both.

Aug. 12 Claims: Race 2 – Cyberviking ($40k, Steve Knapp), Mastering ($40k, Steve Knapp), Redline ($40k, Eddie Truman). Del Mar Recap for Sunday (8-13-23)

Fast main track and firm turf course. No front running winners on dirt. The recent speed friendly main track was history on Sunday. On the turf course, a 6-1 shot dueled early, let an aggressive rival go, and stalked and scored at one mile. A 27-1 was placed first through disqualification at one mile, and a midpack stalking favorite won the flat mile finale (rail at 12 feet).

Hat trick for Juan Hernandez (2 dirt sprints). Flavien Prat and Ramon Vazquez both booted home a pair. Peter Eurton saddled two winners.

Aug. 13 Claims: Race 2 – Stafford to Kupp ($25k, George Papaprodromou), Stan From Malibu ($25k, Ryan Hanson), Worth Looking ($25k, Kelly Bainum). Race 6 – Burnin Turf ($50k, Sandino Hernandez), Spirit Maker ($50k, Peter Miller).
