Fast main track and firm turf course. One dueling front runner graduated at one mile on the main track. Tactical types won the other three dirt races. On the turf course, an outside presser scored at 4-1 odds in the flat mile opener, an early moving stalking favorite graduated at 1 1/16 miles, a stalking favorite tallied at five panels, and a last-to-first closer won at 9-1 odds at five panels (rail at 30 feet).

Leonard Powell saddled two winners.

Fast main track and firm turf course. Two front running winners on dirt (8f, 6.5f). On the turf course, a 5-1 stalker graduated in the 5f opener, an even money front runner graduated at one mile, a 3-1 front runner scored at 5f, and a stalking favorite tallied at five panels (rail at 30 feet).

Kent Desormeaux (dirt) and Edwin Maldonado (turf sprints) both booted home a pair. Peter Eurton saddled two winners on the main track.

September 1 Claims: Race 3 – Rugelach ($50k, Ron Ellis). Race 4 – Morning Addiction ($10k, Bill McLean), Never Sway ($10k, Lorenzo Campuzano), Renegade Princess ($10k, Robert Hess Jr).

Del Mar Recap for Saturday (9-2-23)

Fast main track and firm turf course. Three front running winners on dirt (6f, 8f, 10f). On the turf course, a 15-1 stalker graduated in the flat mile opener, a 3-1 closer scored at 1 1/6 miles, a 4-1 closer captured the Del Mar Mile (G2), a midpack stalking favorite took the Green Flash (G3) at five panels, and a 5-2 closing favorite won the Del Mar Handicap at 1 3/8 miles.

Juan Hernandez and Flavien Prat both guided home three winners. Antonio Fresu booted home a pair. Bob Baffert saddled three winners and Prat rode two. Phil D’Amato saddled two graded stakes winners on turf.

September 2 Claims: Race 2 – Clooney ($16k, Steve Knapp), Group Hug ($16k, Sandino Hernandez).

The 20 cent Rainbow 6 pool was $3,915,036 and multiple tickets with six winners paid $341.06. There was a mandatory payout on Saturday and the jackpot pool starts over on Sunday.

On the turf course, a 5-2 stalker scored at 1 1/16 miles, a 13-1 midpack closer scored at 8.5f, a 19-1 closer tallied at 5f, a 5-2 midpack stalker tallied at one mile, and a stalking favorite won the Del Mar Derby at a mile and an eighth.

Hector Berrios and Antonio Fresu both booted home a pair. Mark Glatt (dirt) and Tim Yakteen both saddled two winners. Bob Baffert trainees Tahoe Sunrise and Mr Fisk finished in a dead heat for the win in the Shared Belief Stakes.
