Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 10-21-23
Anoakia (6f): Sandy Bottom was too fleet for these. She broke right on top from the inside post. She went the opening quarter in 22.12 and the half in 45.20. Tambo was pressing from second and this was a match race throughout. Sandy Bottom started to edge away from Tambo in the lane but the latter kept on plugging away and would not give up, but Sandy Bottom ($4.40) prevailed by 3/4ths of a length under Umberto Rispoli. Tambo was clearly second best and Becky’s Dream was best of the rest in third. Dua was a flat fourth as the 1.60-1 second betting choice and Cheeky Gal trailed. The final time was 1:10.55.
The $1 Pick 6 pool was $152,150 and multiple tickets with six winners paid $9,031.40. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $136.60.
