Check out my Santa Anita Park race 2 analysis for 3-1-24 below.
SA 2 (Mcl-40k, 5.5f)
Primary – #4 ELIGIO, #1 Eight Clap
Secondary – #2 Smiling Jojo
Wagers: #4 to win, Exacta 4-1, Trifecta 1-4/1-2-4/1-2-4
Comments: #4 Eligio (5-2) was a first time gelding trying turf for the first time in the Eight Clap maiden race Jan. 27, and he raced evenly in fourth. He landed the place in his first three dirt sprints and misfired in his next two starts. He might be able to finish in front of #1 Eight Clap (8-5) this time. The latter turned back and dropped into a maiden claiming race in his third start after a layoff Jan. 27, and he rallied for the show as the even money favorite. The $190k Audible gelding added blinkers and lasix last time, and Berrios shows a profit with Mullins recently. He tries dirt for the first time. #2 Smiling Jojo (4-1) dropped from MSW to state bred Mcl-50k at LRC late last year, and finished an improved third that day. He set the pace and weakened to fourth Dec. 30, and dueled and weakened to fourth in a dirt sprint Feb. 2. He should show speed.
