Check out my Tuesday (5-21-24) Presque Isle Downs Race 3 analysis below.
Presque Isle Race 3 (Str-OC-10k, 3&up, 6f all-weather track) – Post Time – 3:54pm EDT
Primary – #6 TONY SMALL, #1 Tapsolution
Secondary – #2 Fielder
Horse Comments:
#6 Tony Small (5-2) chose this race over a local entry level allowance race on Monday. I handicapped that race and did not consider him a contender, but he looks good here. The 8-year-old gelding needed his dirt sprint return at Tampa Bay. He won a local claiming sprint under Tuesday’s rider Martina Rojas last June, and she was the fourth in the rider standings at Presque Isle last year. His trainer Mark Hoffman is 4-for-14 with horses making their second start after a layoff, and an outside stalking trip is expected.
#1 Tapsolution (3-1) was claimed out of a runner-up finish in a $5k dirt sprint at Tampa Bay on April 3. He has struck twice at Presque Isle and figures to save ground stalking the pace.
#2 Fielder (8-5) won a trio of local state bred claiming sprints last year. The 10-year-old gelding makes his first start since October 2023 and will probably impact the pace under his winning rider Pablo Morales.
