Check out my Saturday (6-1-24) Churchill Downs Race 10 analysis below.
CD 10 (G3 Blame, 9f) – Post Time 5:27pm EDT
Primary – #6 DREAMLIKE, #2 Highland Falls
Secondary – #5 Tapit Trice, #3 War Campaign, #11 Trademark
Horse Comments:
#6 Dreamlike (4-1) still has potential for Todd Pletcher. He was a close third when still a maiden in the G2 Wood Memorial last year, and returned to the maiden ranks and romped at Saratoga last summer. He was getting to Saudi Crown late in a half-length defeat in the G1 PA Derby, and ended up 8th of 12 in the BC Classic. He stalked and missed by a neck as the beaten chalk in his allowance return at Keeneland on April 20, and he might be able to make an impact in this heat.
#2 Highland Falls (5-2) captured three of his first four starts against lesser company. He shipped to SoCal and finished an even fourth in the G1 Big ‘Cap, and exits a clear runner-up finish in the G2 Oaklawn Handicap.
#5 Tapit Trice (3-1) was one of the better sophomores in the land last year. He won the Tampa Bay Derby (G3) and Blue Grass (G1), and was third in the Belmont (G1) and Travers (G1). He fired two Florida bullets for this and Todd Pletcher is a quality layoff trainer. Flavien Prat is his new pilot and he will try to get involved from off the pace. He broke his maiden in the mud and was third in a muddy edition of the Travers last year.
#3 War Campaign (9-2) exits two straight runner-up finishes in graded routes. He handles a wet track and Tyler Gaffalione got acquainted with him last time.
#11 Trademark (12-1) stalked and faded in the Pegasus World Cup (G1) on Jan. 27. He beat First Mission by a nose in the Grade 1 Clark last fall. The key to his success seems to be running at Churchill. He is 4-for-7 with a runner-up finish locally, and he has struck two times at this distance. He reconnects with Martin Garcia and will probably stalk the pace from the outside post. He sports a pair of wet track wins.
Wagers:
