Check out my Monday (6-3-24) Presque Isle Downs Race 7 analysis below.
Presque Isle Race 7 (Alw-1x, f&m, one mile all-weather) – Post Time – 5:42pm EDT
Primary – #5 GOLDEN DAGGER, #6 Vaccina
Secondary – #4 Raining Sugar, #2 Implosion
Horse Comments:
#5 Golden Dagger (7-2) rallied for the win in her all-weather sprint bow at Turfway last spring, and shipped to Saratoga and won a turf sprint second time out. She broke slow from the inside post and never got going when finishing 10th of 12 in her turf sprint return at Keeneland on April 20. She is bred to go this far and could easily go better in her second start after a long layoff.
#6 Vaccina (8-1) sports three local wins and does some of her best work at this distance. She easily went all the way in a local $25k/2L affair at one mile last September, and did the same thing in a PA-bred entry level allowance heat in October. She went too fast on the lead and weakened when last seen at a mile and seventy yards (October 2023). Her new rider Walter Alencar is 10-for-21 at Presque Isle and she is probably the one to catch.
#4 Raining Sugar (5-2) is back on synthetic footing in her second start after a layoff. She does her best running in the stretch and should get pace to chase. The sophomore filly is 0-for-3 with a show finish on all-weather ground.
#2 Implosion (3-1) ran fast enough to win this in three of her last four starts but I am not thrilled with her 1-for-18 record. She drilled a Saratoga training track bullet for this on May 24 and should attend the pace.
Wagers:
