Check out my Wednesday (6-5-24) Churchill Downs Race 7 analysis below.

CD 7 (Alw-1x, f&m, 7f)  – Post Time 3:50pm EDT
Primary – #6 STUNNINGLY, #2 Popperina
Secondary – #3 Sundance Feature

Horse Comments:

#6 Stunningly (3-1) started getting good last June. She landed the place in back-to-back special weight events, and graduated by a half-length in the mud at Saratoga last summer. She disappeared for more than eight months and returned with a solid runner-up finish under the Twin Spires on May 1. Joel Rosario rides her well and she projects a stalking trip while out in the clear. Steve Asmussen’s Gun Runner filly can win this if she moves forward a bit in her second start after a long layoff.

#2 Popperina (6-1) was part of the exacta in all four starts at six panels. She graduated by 5 1/2 lengths second time out, lost by a nose on March 24, and rallied to win by 2 1/4 lengths at Keeneland on April 17. Tyler Gaffalione got to know her last time.

#3 Sundance Feature (7-5) landed the place in her all-weather sprint bow at Turfway, and attended below par splits and romped by a dozen lengths in the local slop on May 3. Big wet track winners frequently get overbet and end up underperforming in subsequent starts. She should be forwardly placed under her winning rider Luis Saez.
