Check out my Thursday (6-6-24) Saratoga Race 10 analysis below.

SAR  10 (G2 Belmont Gold Cup, 2 miles inner turf) – Post Time 5:50pm EDT
Primary – #12 SISKANY
Secondary – #1 Limited Liability, #11 The Grey Wizard, #6 Champagne Juan

Horse Comments:

#12 Siskany (1-1) won this race last year for Charles Appleby and is probably the one to beat again. After this race in 2023, he shipped to Germany and finished third in a Group 1. He returned to this country and ran last on dirt as the favorite after prompting the pace in the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (G2) at Santa Anita on the Breeders’ Cup undercard. He won a Group 3 in Dubai at 1 3/4 miles in January and a Group 2 at 1 3/4 miles in February, and was 4th of 15 when last seen in a Group 2 at 2 miles on turf March 30. William Buick sticks with the 10-for-24 gelding. Appleby has started runners in 13 graded races in this country this year with five wins.

#1 Limited Liability (8-1) rallied to hit the board in a couple of graded turf races at a mile and a half last year. He was nowhere in the slop at 1 1/8 miles on April 11, and got back on turf and was an even fourth in the Grade 2 Fort Marcy at 1 1/8 miles on May 4. He can go better in his third start of the year.

#11 The Grey Wizard (8-1) rallied for the place in this event last year. He lost his way in the Bowling Green (G2) and Elkhorn (G2), and bounced back with a rallying show finish in the Grade 3 Louisville at 1 1/2 miles on May 18. He reconnects with his winning rider John Velazquez.

#6 Champagne Juan (15-1) is a lightly raced $500k Justify colt for Christophe Clement. He fired trifecta shots in 5 of 6 outings and Joel Rosario is 28% with Clement recently. He earned improved late pace ratings in his last two turf starts at a mile and a half.
