The more things change the more they stay the same in the 2024 Triple Crown Series. Mystik Dan upset the Kentucky Derby with a dream ground saving trip. In the Preakness, 9-1 shot Seize the Grey got loose on a speed favoring, wet track at Pimlico, and 17-1 longshot Dornoch pressed the pace over a speed favoring track in the Belmont Stakes and held off Mindframe and Sierra Leone.
Belmont Stakes complete order of finish: Dornoch (1st), Mindframe (2nd), Sierra Leone (3rd), Honor Marie (4th), Antiquarian (5th), Protective (6th), Seize the Grey (7th), Mystik Dan (8th), The Wine Steward (9th), Resilience (10th).
The race for the 3-year-old male title is wide open and the second half of the year promises to bring more surprises.
