#5 Getaway Car (3-5) was the favorite in his local bow on July 20 and he broke on top and was much the best by 3 1/4 lengths. Bob Baffert’s $700k Curlin colt might have the run of the race from the outside post in this compact field.
#4 Mischief River (8-1) chased outside from second, grabbed the lead and got clear, and graduated by a length and a half in his 5f bow at LRC on June 29. They paid half a million for this son of Curlin and he fired a best of 28 bullet for this at 5f (58 and change) on Aug. 2.
#3 White Sands (3-1) is a filly taking on the boys. She wired the field in her first two starts and won by a combined 22 1/2 lengths. She chose this spot over Saturday’s G3 Sorrento and she should make her presence felt from the outset.
