Horse Comments:
#3 Sunrise Journey (7-2) is in good form. He battled wide and prevailed by a head in a $12.5k claimer at LRC on July 7, and attended the pace and was second best as the beaten favorite in a fast local $10k sprint on Aug. 4. The 9-year-old gelding is up two levels and he ran well in all four local starts (4 1-2-1).
#8 Rivoli (8-1) missed the show by a head in the common local $10k sprint on Aug. 4. George Papaprodromou claimed him last time and he is a profitable 26% first after the claim.
#11 El Diablo Rojo (5-1) fired trifecta shots in 9 of his last 10 starts. He has just one victory in his last 15 starts and is probably a bigger threat underneath.
#9 Piper’s Causeway (8-1) split Sunrise Journey and El Diablo Rojo in a $12.5k claimer at LRC on July 7. He should be all over the pace.
#5 Solomons Gold (12-1) was nabbed out of his last by Sandino Hernandez Jr. and he is 20% first after the claim. He had his 7-race trifecta streak come to an end when finishing fourth in an extended sprint at GP on June 6.
