Check out my Thursday (9-19-24) Belmont at Aqueduct Race 8 analysis below.

BAQ 8 (Alw-80k/1x, NY-bred fillies and mares, 6f dirt) – Post Time 4:44 PM ET
Primary – #6 FLIGHT CONTROL, #5 A Maize Zing Dotie
Secondary – #2 First Class Cat, #9 Carol T

Horse Comments:

#6 Flight Control (9-2) smartly wired the field as a 36-1 longshot in her local dirt sprint bow late last year. She dueled and missed the show by a head in a local state bred stakes race in January, and this is her first start in more than eight months. Robert Klesaris has very good stats with this type of layoff runner and she should be all over the pace.

#5 A Maize Zing Dotie (7-2) won three races in 2023 and a trio of races this year, and all of those wins were at Finger Lakes. She shipped to Saratoga and attended the pace and weakened to fourth as the beaten chalk on a good track last time. Irad Ortiz Jr. stays put and she should impact the pace.

#2 First Class Cat (6-1) does some of her best work at this course and distance, and Flavien Prat ends up here. She looked good winning a restricted claimer on June 30, and split an 8-horse field on July 18. She projects an inner tactical trip at playable odds.

#9 Carol T (10-1) rallied wide to graduate by 5 3/4 lengths at this course and distance on May 11. She dropped all three starts since. Two were extended sprints including a stakes start in the mud, and she was an okay third in between those two races on July 7. The fresh sophomore filly is back at her winning distance and will try to get involved from off the pace.
