#6 Nice as Pie (5-1) stretched out and rallied from 10th and last to miss by a head in the Penn Oaks on May 31. She is 4-for-4 on all-weather ground and can stalk or close. Kelsey Danner shows a profit with layoff runners and with graded stakes starters.
#2 Roses for Debra (9-5) is an 8-for-14 win type for Christophe Clement. She won four turf sprints last year including two stakes events, and she started 2024 with a victory in the Giant’s Causeway (G3) at Keeneland in April. She hit the board as the beaten chalk in her last two turf sprint attempts. Her numbers dropped off in her last pair and she is not as fast this year. The 5-year-old mare is 3-for-4 with a runner-up finish on all-weather ground and Irad Ortiz Jr. strings along. She will probably be forwardly placed in a race lacking front end speed.
#8 Gal in a Rush (5-2) switched to all-weather footing and went last-to-first in the Hendrie (G3) on July 6, and she closed wide from post 11, led, and missed by a neck in the Seaway (G3) on Aug. 11. She should be closing under profitable sprint rider Dylan Davis, but the race shape might not be in her favor.
