#7 Uncle Happy (3-1) wired the field in a dirt route at Lone Star on May 25 and switched to turf and won an allowance route at that same venue in July. He moved to the Phil D’Amato barn and attended the pace and finished a length in front of Promissio in a solid runner-up finish on Sept. 1. Antonio Fresu knows him now and he should make his presence felt from the outset.
#5 Promissio (6-1) was part of the trifecta in 5 of 7 turf routes and both of his wins were at this course and distance. Hector Berrios is a profitable turf rider and he should get pace to chase.
#6 Curlin’s Kaos (6-5) turned back, put blinkers back on, and romped in a fast California-bred stakes win in the Real Good Deal on Aug. 2. He is 2-for-2 at this distance on turf and both of those wins were at Santa Anita.
#9 Rastaman Vibe (5-1) hit the board in back-to-back turf routes at Del Mar on July 21 and Aug. 10. Juan Hernandez strings along and he is a logical contender in his current form, but his 0-for-6 local turf record is a concern.
