Horse Comments:
#3 Fluffy Socks (10-1) ran well in all three local turf stakes starts. She won the G3 Jimmy Durante in 2020, was third in the 2021 Del Mar Oaks (G1), and rallied to miss by a head as my top choice in the G1 Matriarch (December 2023). She exits an okay show finish in the G1 First Lady and reunites with her winning rider Irad Ortiz Jr. She has a good overall record at 8T (7 3-2-1).
#10 Raqiya (6-1) won four turf sprints in GB. The sophomore miss exits a G3 win at 7T (Goodwood) and Frankie Dettori takes the call.
#9 Kathmandu (7-2) finished 2 lengths behind Raqiya at Goodwood July 31. She missed by a head in a 16-horse G1 at 8T in May and Hollie Doyle is her new rider.
#1 Aspen Grove (5-1) cuts back two furlongs after landing the place in the G2 Rodeo Drive. The versatile Justify filly finished a neck in front of Fluffy Socks in the G2 Hillsborough in Florida earlier this year. She should save ground behind the speed under Tyler Gaffalione.
