Check out my Thursday (11-21-24) Churchill Downs Race 6 analysis below.

CD 6 (OC-50k/1x, 12f dirt) – Post Time 3:26 PM ET
Primary – #2 GENERAL MATHIS, #9 Gilded Crane
Secondary – #5 Kissalot

Horse Comments:

#2 General Mathis (7-2) returned to dirt and was clearly second best in a state bred stakes race at 1 1/4 miles at Thistledown Aug. 10. He dropped into a local $40k claimer and stalked and scored by 4 1/2 lengths in the slop at 1 1/8 miles Sept. 27. His new trainer Larry Rivelli has good stats first after the claim and Gerardo Corrales is a profitable route rider.

#9 Gilded Crane (8-5) wired the field as the favorite in his last two starts at 1 1/6 miles and 1 3/16 miles. He is probably the one to catch and will try to navigate this longer distance for the productive Gaffalione/Sharp team.

#5 Kissalot (10-1) stalked wide and finished a clear third in the same race General Mathis exits. The early-pressing gelding set the pace and missed by a neck in a local optional-claiming event at 1 1/4 miles (May 2023). Paulo Lobo shows a profit with his allowance dirt starters.
