Check out my Friday (1-10-25) Gulfstream Park Race 9 analysis below.
GP 9 (OC-75k/1x, 3yo fillies, 1 1/16 miles turf) – Post Time 4:37 PM ET
Primary – #4 LUSH LIPS, #5 Sashay Away
Secondary – #3 Ramsey Pond, #7 Origami, #2 Flip Flops
Horse Comments:
#4 Lush Lips (4-1) added blinkers and blasted MSW foes in a local all-weather route Nov. 23. She was 8-1 last time and she chased from second, took over, and won by 7 lengths. She hit the board in 1 of 3 turf outings and sports a pair of turf bullets for this. Tyler Gaffalione wins races with Brendan Walsh and she has the ability to get forward in a race full of patient runners.
#5 Sashay Away (8-1) looked good stalking and scoring in her 8T bow at Ellis Park, and she was 5th of 12 in a stakes race at KD second time out. The G2 Jessamine was next and she ended up 7th of 11 (beaten 3 lengths) as a 30-1 outsider. She was pushed out of position early and failed to make an impact as the beaten chalk in an allowance turf route at CD Nov. 7. Brendan Walsh has her now and he has decent stats with new additions to his barn. She might be able to make an impact in the lane at square odds.
#3 Ramsey Pond (3-1) is slowly getting faster for Saffie Joseph Jr. She added blinkers and graduated in a flat mile turf race at KD last September. She returned to GP and was a flat 7th of 10 as the beaten favorite in the Our Dear Peggy Oct. 26, and moved forward with a decent show finish at 11-1 odds in the Wait a While Nov. 28. She gets more ground to work with and might show a bit more in her third start after a layoff.
#7 Origami (5-2) shipped from Ireland to California and ended up a solid third in the G3 Cecil B. DeMille at 8T Dec. 1. Strong favorite Clock Tower stole that one on the front end, and rallying runner-up Scipio was a next-out maiden winner. Jack Sisterson shows a profit with his first time lasix starters and she would not have to run much faster to win this.
#2 Flip Flops (8-1) stretched out after two sprints and graduated from post 12 in a flat mile turf affair at Ellis Park last summer. She misfired as a 20-1 longshot in a stakes race at KD in September, and showed mild late interest when finishing 5th of 9 (beaten 2 1/4 lengths) in an allowance turf route at KEE in October. She sports two bullets for this and profitable turf rider Dylan Davis is 2-for-7 with Mark Casse recently.
