Horse Comments:
#1 Limited Liability (3-1) was a close third in the G2 Belmont Gold Cup last June, and stalked the pace and landed the place in the Cape Henlopen at 12T in August. Frankie Dettori jumped aboard and he controlled the pace and romped by 8+ lengths over next-out stakes winner The Grey Wizard in the Nashville Gold Cup at Kentucky Downs. Last time, he rallied outside, bid for the lead, and just held the place in the G2 Red Smith. Dettori stays put and he might get the run of the race from the inside post. He is 0-for-3 with two runner-up finishes and a show finish at this distance.
#11 Bold Act (2-1) won the G3 Sycamore in 2023 and the G2 Dubai City of Gold last year, and was competitive without winning in all four turf routes stakes starts in this country last year. He missed by a nose when last seen in the G3 Sycamore (October 2024). William Buick booted him home in France (August 2023).
#10 Utah Beach (10-1) rallied for the show in the G3 Sycamore and missed by a head as the favorite in the H. Allen Jerkens Memorial at two miles on turf Dec. 7. Tyler Gaffalione knows him now, he ran well in both local turf starts, and he is 2-for-4 at 12T. Ignacio Correas shows a profit with his graded turf routes and this gelding will try to get involved late.
#8 Yamato (15-1) is an 8-year-old gelding with an 11-for-33 record. He raced three times last year and won an all-weather route in November. He has struck twice at Gulfstream and three times at this distance.
