#8 Dr. Ray D. (3-1) fired trifecta shots in 9 of her last 10 starts. She won a $20k/3L sprint at LRC Dec. 15 and Robert Hess Jr. claimed her that day. She returned to turf and landed the place in a $32k claimer Jan. 19 and winner Tam’s Little Angel clicked right back Feb. 8 (OC-50k/1x, 6.5T). Umberto Rispoli got acquainted with her last time and Hess Jr. is enjoying a productive meet.
#4 Tiergarten (6-1) hit the board in her last three claiming starts. The 2-time local winner stalked and was second best in a dirt sprint at LRC Dec. 8, and was 3rd in a flat mile turf race at this level Dec. 27. She returned to dirt and stalked, led, and was clearly second best at one mile Feb. 7. Frankie Dettori takes the call and she turns back and returns to turf.
#2 Cheeky Gal (7-2) ran well in 2 of 3 turf starts and Juan Hernandez takes the call. She will probably chase the pace.
#5 A Real Jewel (8-1) wired the field from the inside post in a 1,000-yard dash at Los Al Feb. 8. She hit the board in 3 of 4 turf sprints.
