Check out my Friday (3-14-25) Santa Anita Park Race 8 analysis below.
SA 8 (OC-20k/1x, CA-bred, 8f) – Post Time 7:38 PM ET
Primary – #4 SPEED GRAZY, #2 Lil Richards Bello
Secondary – #1 Clouseau, #8 Pass the Baton
Horse Comments:
#4 Speed Grazy (8-1) is a consistent dirt router. Peter Miller claimed him out of a course/distance tally Jan. 16 and he was nowhere from an outer post at 8T Feb. 23. He is back on preferred footing and figures to stalk the pace at a price under Edwin Maldonado.
#2 Lil Richards Bello (9-5) rallied to win a $25k claiming turf route by a neck as the favorite when last seen on 10-20-24. He wired the field in a local dirt route in 2023 and his winning rider Hernandez should have running style options.
#1 Clouseau (5-2) won his last three dirt routes as the favorite for Andy Mathis. He shipped from PLN to SA and rallied to win by 1 1/4 lengths Feb. 14 and O. J. Jauregui claimed him for $20k. Geovanni Franco stays put and the 4-time local winner is sharp and fast enough to win.
#8 Pass the Baton (20-1) was part of the trifecta in 5 of his last 6 starts (2 wins). He closed, led, and was second best behind Clouseau Feb. 14.
