Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 3-22-25

Grade 3 San Luis Rey (1 1/2 miles turf): The pace was honest as expected with Balladeer showing the way and Midnight Mammoth and Wizard of Westwood chasing. Those three faded and stalker Divin Propos (FR) made the first run and forged to the front. Gold Phoenix (IRE) and Easter (FR) were within striking range but the stablemates failed to quicken, and it was closer Atitlan ($20.20) moving best of all in the lane and he kicked away to win by 2 lengths for Hector Berrios and John Shirreffs. Divin Propos held the place by a half-length over Gold Phoenix, and Easter was best of the rest in fourth. Wizard of Westwood weakened to 5th and Balladeer, Megayacht, and Midnight Mammoth completed the order of finish. Fractions: 23.90, 47.79, 1:11.98, 1:36.79, 2:01.06, 2:24.73.
