#5 Suga Steve (8-1) captured his last three sprints at Laurel. Kent Sweezey is his new trainer and he is 25% at Gulfstream. The sharp, fresh stalker likes this distance (7 4-2-1). Profitable sprint rider Dylan Davis takes the call and he wins races with this barn, and he should offer value.
#1 Into Pleasure (8-5) won back-to-back local sprints in December and January, and was third from the inside post in an extended sprint March 1. He cuts back a furlong and might bounce back. He broke from outer posts in his two wins, and landed the rail in his two losses.
#3 Air Combat (9-2) won a $25k claiming sprint at Woodbine in December and Martin Drexler claimed him that day. He won his last two local sprints and should press the pace under Johnny V.
#4 Mish (5-2) beat similar foes at this course and distance as the chalk in December, and was second as the beaten favorite Feb. 7. Irad Ortiz, Jr. stays put and the 8-time local winner always finishes in the top three at this trip (12 5-4-3).
#6 Flying Liam (5-1) won two straight races at Gulfstream in 2023 and dropped all ten starts since. He earned competitive numbers in his last two flat mile starts and he has won at this distance before. I like him more underneath.
