Check out my Saturday (4-5-25) Aqueduct Race 11 analysis below.
AQU 11 (Excelsior, 10f) – Post Time 5:38 PM ET
Primary – #4 CRUPI, #8 Masmak
Secondary – #3 Batten Down
Horse Comments:
#4 Crupi (4-1) has been a disappointment since overcoming a speed bias and going last-to-first as my top choice in the G2 Suburban at this distance at SAR last year. Since that race, he dropped all six starts in the G1-2 ranks and hit the board in three of those races. He should get pace to chase and might be able to get back on the beam.
#8 Masmak (5-2) exits back-to-back local wins at a mile and an eighth. He is 4-for-5 with a runner-up finish at AQU and figures to work out an outside stalking trip behind a few early runners.
#3 Batten Down (2-1) does his best work when he can get out there and clear off early. He did just that in his maiden win, and in the G3 Ohio Derby and Bourbon Trail last year. He dueled and weakened in the Discovery, and stalked and finished an even fourth in the G3 Mineshaft last time. He meets other speed but it might not matter if he beats them to the punch.
Wagers:
