Check out my Monday (4-7-25) Keeneland Race 7 analysis below.
KEE 7 (Lafayette, 7f) – Post Time 4:12 PM ET
Primary – #2 COLLOQUIAL
Secondary – #5 Gate to Wire, #4 Touchy, #1 Gunmetal
Horse Comments:
#2 Colloquial (6-5) stalked the pace and missed by a nose in his 5f bow at AQU June 2024, and the show finisher was a neck-out winner. He resurfaced at that same venue Feb. 7, and he added lasix, stalked the pace, and cruised by 7 lengths as the favorite in a very fast race (clear runner-up next-out winner). Manny Franco stays put and he is 6-for-12 with George Weaver, and this one fired a 5f bullet for this March 20.
#5 Gate to Wire (9-2) moved to dirt and rolled to a sharp win in the Swale Feb. 1. He stretched out, stalked from the inside post, and weakened to 5th of 6 in the G2 FOY March 1. He is back in a sprint and his winning rider Dylan Davis stays put.
#4 Touchy (8-1) turns back after finishing a clear third, 9 lengths behind the top two finishers in the Sunland Derby Feb. 16. He graduated in a local dirt sprint and drilled a 5f bullet for this at KEE March 27. He can get a piece of the purse from off the pace under Joel Rosario.
#1 Gunmetal (3-1) is also entered in an optional-claiming race at KEE April 8 so we will have to see which spot his connections choose. He pressed the pace from an outer post and smartly won his debut in a fast race at FG late last year. He was the favorite in the Swale second time out and he ended up a clear, distance third (clear runner-up next-out winner). Flavien Prat is his new rider and he might bounce back for Brad Cox.
