Check out my Wednesday (4-9-25) Keeneland Race 7 analysis below.

KEE 7 (OC-125k/1x, 3yo, 1 1/16 miles dirt) – Post Time  4:12 PM ET
Primary – #6 LION OF JUSTICE
Secondary – #14 Valentinian, #9 Ashley’s Archer, #10 Skate Away

Horse Comments:

#6 Lion of Justice (8-5) was the even money favorite in his flat mile debut at Colonial Downs and he made the lead and graduated by 6 1/2 lengths as my best bet top choice. They paid $1.1 million for this Into Mischief colt and he could easily score again for Flavien Prat and Brad Cox. Dam Ever So Clever won the Fantasy (G3) in 2017 and she produced stakes winner Everso Mischievous, and he captured the Forty Niner (G2) in 2023. He was also trained by Brad Cox and he was Lion of Justice’s full brother.

#14 Valentinian (7-2) is a $1.5 million Into Mischief colt exiting a sharp debut dirt route victory at TAM. He was the favorite in that slow early/fast late route on March 1 and he earned a strong late pace rating. He beat his stablemate Last Man Standing last time and that runner split a 12-horse field in a local MSW dirt route April 8. Todd Pletcher’s promising colt is a logical contender.

#9 Ashley’s Archer (8-1) moved to dirt, stalked the pace, and was clearly second best as the beaten favorite at seven panels March 2, and the show finisher was a next-out winner. He stretches back out in his second start after a layoff and he ran well in all three previous routes on turf (2 wins) and synthetic (stakes show finish).

#10 Skate Away (4-1) pressed and weakened in his 6f bow, and he ended up 10 lengths behind his winning stablemate River Thames. He was 16-1 in his Jan. 11 bow and was bet down to 4-1 in a dirt route second time out, and he made the lead and graduated by 2 3/4 lengths.
