Check out my Thursday (4-17-25) Keeneland Race 8 analysis below.
KEE 8 (All-120k/2L, 3-year-old fillies, 6f dirt) – Post Time 4:44 PM ET
Primary – #5 CAVATELLI, #3 Empirical Mischief
Secondary – #1 Mila Rose
Horse Comments:
#5 Cavatelli (6-1) was 8-1 in her Mcl-40k turf sprint bow last year and she stalked and scored by 4+ lengths, and the runner-up was a next-out winner. Eric Foster is her new trainer and he shows a profit first after the claim, and this is her first start in more than seven months. She adds lasix and Joel Rosario takes the call, and she had a decent local half-mile breeze April 12.
#3 Empirical Mischief (3-1) added blinkers and wired the field second time out last summer. She was 6th of 14 in the Pocahontas (G3), and set the pace and was best of the rest in third (beaten 12 lengths) when last seen in a local sprint last fall. 2025 stakes winners Eclatant (G3 Forward Gal) and Dancing Magic (Gasparilla) beat her last time. She adds lasix and this is her first start in more than half a year, and Adam Beschizza wins races with John Ennis.
#1 Mila Rose (9-5) was 7-2 in her all-weather sprint bow at TP March 6 and she closed from post 11 and won by 3 1/2 lengths. Steve Asmussen is a profitable 21% with horses moving from synthetic to dirt.
