Check out my Sunday (5-4-25) Santa Anita Park Race 9 analysis below.

SA 9 (OC-80k, 3&up, 6.5f dirt) – Post Time  8:08 PM ET
Primary – #6 MBAGNICK, #1 Judge Miller
Secondary – #2 Traegar

Horse Comments:

#6 Mbagnick (9-2) was nabbed out of his last for $50k by Jeff Mullins and he shows a profit first after the claim. Hector Berrios wins races with this barn and he has a recency edge over the two favorites.

#1 Judge Miller (5-2) makes his first start in more than eleven months for Mark Glatt. He was the favorite in his first four starts. He graduated in an extended sprint second time out, and stretched out and aired by 11 lengths in his first start vs. winners. He stepped up, set the pace, and held the place as the beaten favorite in the Californian (G3), and went to the sidelines after an even third in the G2 Gold Cup (May 2024). He drilled a 6f bullet for this April 20 and could easily return running for the productive Fresu/Glatt team.

#2 Traegar (2-1) was up the track in his 2022 bow and fired trifecta shots in all seven starts since (4 wins). Mark Glatt’s early-pressing sprinter reunites with his winning rider Mike Smith, and this is his first start since November 2023.
