Check out my Saturday (6-7-25) Saratoga Race 7 analysis below.

SAR  7 (G3 True North, 6.5f) – Post Time 2:37 PM ET
Primary – #6 MULLIKIN, #5 Book’em Danno
Secondary – #4 Nakatomi, #2 Crazy Mason

Horse Comments:

#6 Mullikin (2-1) seems to hold the edge in this race. He won four straight races last year including back-to-back stakes wins in the G2 Nerud and G1 Forego. He cut back a furlong and was a closing third in the G1 BC Sprint, and ended 2024 with a runner-up finish behind Locked in a strong renewal of the G2 Cigar Mile. Luis Saez was his new rider in the G1 Churchill Downs in the slop on the Ky Derby undercard, and he stalked wide from post 11, led, and ended up a length and a half back in 5th. That was a much tougher field. Multiple graded winner Mindframe won that one, and runner-up Nysos returned to romp with a 108 BSF in the G3 Triple Bend at SA last weekend. He raced at 6.5f once before and romped by 10 lengths in that MSW affair at CD. He reconnects with his winning rider Flavien Prat and he wired the field by 5 3/4 lengths at SAR last summer.

#5 Book’em Danno (5-2) was a close fourth (beaten a neck) in the G1 Churchill Downs last time. The consistent gelding is 7-for-13 with three runner-up finishes and a show finish, and he won the local G1 Woody Stephens last June. His winning rider Paco Lopez should have running style options from a middle post.

#4 Nakatomi (4-1) missed by a neck in the G1 Dubai Golden Shaheen April 5 and these Dubai shippers don’t always come back and retain sharp form. He won the local G1 Vanderbilt last year but this one is hardly a win machine. He is just 2 for his last 13 with eight minor placings. He is 2-for-3 with a show finish at SAR so he clearly likes this oval.

#2 Crazy Mason (9-2) went last-to-first in his last three sprints at AQU including the G2 Carter at 7f as my top choice. Manny Franco knows the sharp late runner now and he needs pace help.
