Horse Comments:
#7 Raw Ability (12-1) won her first three flat mile turf starts. She was visually impressive in a last-to-first win in her first start in this country at DMR last summer, and she chased slow fractions and won her first start this year March 17. I made her my top choice in the G3 Royal Heroine April 26 and they bet her down to favoritism and she stalked fast fractions before fading to 8th of 11. Her winning rider Hector Berrios got too aggressive last time and her hew pilot Vincent Cheminaud will probably let her drop back and finish at playable odds.
#2 Queen Maxima (7-2) won her last five turf sprints and three of those were stakes wins including a pair of G3 victories. She owns strong numbers and can win this if she handles two turns.
#9 Medoro (3-1) is 4-for-8 with four minor placings on turf. This is her first start in 6+ months and Umberto Rispoli hops aboard the 3-time stakes winner.
#10 Sunset Glory (6-1) returned from a layoff and rallied for the win in an OC turf route at SA June 6. She is 2-for-3 at DMR.
#8 Alpha Bella (10-1) threw in a rare clunker in the G2 Santa Margarita on dirt May 25 (beaten 26 lengths). Before that, she landed the place in the G3 Wilshire at 8T and was second in the G3 La Canada. She also landed the place in the G2 Zenyatta and G3 Bayakoa last year. In 2023, she was second in the G3 Sweetest Chant (8.5T) and G3 Florida Oaks (8.5T), and third in the Virginia Oaks (9T) and listed Tropical Park Oaks (8.5T). She started 2024 with a victory in the G3 La Prevoyante (12T) and was second in the Miss Liberty (8.5T). John Sadler’s mare is back on turf and profitable turf rider Armando Ayuso is 2-for-3 with this outfit recently.
