Horse Comments:
#2 Frog (9-5) set the pace and completed the trifecta in back-to-back Mcl-50k events at 6T and 6.5T at SA in May. She stretched out, chased from second, and weakened to 6th of 10 in a local Mcl-62.5k affair at 8T Aug. 10. I made her my best bet top choice in a similar 5T affair at DMR Aug. 31 (blinkers on) and she set the pace from post 11 and missed the place by a neck (runner-up next-out winner). Juan Hernandez got to know her last time and she might go all the way this time.
#6 Paarl (5-1) drops into a maiden claiming race for the first time. She earned an improved number when finishing an even 5th of 9 (beaten 3 1/4 lengths) at 5T Aug. 29 and that was her first start in more than half a year. She has been in some productive races. The 1-2 finishers on 12-28-24 were next-out winners, Feb. 15 winner Jungle Peace won her next two starts including the G3 Senorita, and the winner (Snowglow) and show finisher (Helga Brandt) were both next-out winners.
#7 Without a Pout (4-1) was fourth in her all-weather route bow and she hit the board in her next two turf routes for Walsh. She moved to the Baltas barn and was 7th of 10 from the outside post at CD June 18. She dropped from the MSW ranks and finished an even 4th of 10 as the beaten favorite on Aug. 10, and split a 10-horse field Sept. 6. She added blinkers in a local 8T affair at this level Sept. 26 and she pressed, led, and finished in a dead heat for third. She turns back and will probably chase the pace under Welfin Orantes.
#5 Sensational Dream (6-1) turns back and drops to a new low. She set the pace and held the place in her local 6T bow in January, and was 6th, 7th, and 10th in her last three 8T attempts. This shorter distance probably helps.
