Horse Comments:
#2 Leading Role (9-2) was the favorite in his last three starts. He wired the field in a Mcl-20k affair at 6.5f Sept. 14 and Rob Atras claimed him that day. He was 4th of 7 in a $30k/2L sprint Oct. 4 and the claim was voided (show finisher next-out winner), and he rallied to miss the place by a nose from the inside post at 7f Nov. 13 (blinkers on). Carmouche got to know him last time and he is versatile.
#7 Wajda (4-1) dueled on the lead and beat a next-out winner in a local Mcl-20k affair in February and that was his first start after the Linda Rice claim. He dueled and weakened as the beaten even money favorite in April, and he returned from a layoff and held the place by a nose over Leading Role on Nov. 13. This is his second start off a layoff and he might be the one to catch.
#5 Shoot the Nickel (3-1) is 0-for-8 with four runner-up finishes and a pair of show finishes this year. He was 3rd of 6 (beaten 8 1/4 lengths) in a $50k/2L affair Oct. 23, and I like him more underneath.
#6 Zakat (15-1) is a first time gelding and this is just his fourth career start. He graduated in a Mcl-35k at SAR in July and he chased inside and weakened Oct. 22.
