Horse Comments:
#5 Poster (2-1) won all three starts in 2024 including the G2 Remsen. He rallied for the show in the Sam F. Davis in February and runner-up Owen Almighty returned to take the G3 Tampa Bay Derby. This one was the favorite in the G3 Jeff Ruby Steaks on all-weather ground March 22 and he rallied mildly to finish 4th of 12. He disappeared for 7+ month and returned in an OC-100k/3x flat mile turf race at CD Nov. 9 and he stalked and scored as the favorite. He returns to dirt and reconnects with his Remsen pilot Flavien Prat.
#7 Con Compania (5-2) made the lead in his last three starts around one turn and he won two of those races. He earned an improved number at one mile Oct. 18 and show fisher Classic of Course was a next-out winner. Bobby Dibona is his new trainer and the 3-time local winner will probably attend the pace from the outside post.
#2 Skippylongstocking (3-1) is a 9-time graded winner but he lost his way in his last pair in the G1 Whitney and G2 CT Classic. He is 4-for-5 at this distance and he reunites with his winning G3 Challenger pilot Gaffalione. The 3-time local winner has the back class to win this but he has lost a step. This is not the deepest cast and he drilled a 5f bullet for this Dec. 4.
#3 Catalytic (20-1) was part of the exacta in all nine local starts (9 3-6-0). He is 0-for-4 with three runner-up finishes at this distance and he placed in a pair of local stakes races last year (G1 Florida Derby, Cary Back).
