Check out my Friday (1-2-26) Oaklawn Park Race 8 analysis below.
OP 8 (The Coach Overnight, 8.5f) – Post Time 4:54 PM ET
Primary – #2 ZERO SUGAR, #5 Amorosa
Secondary – #4 Tap Into This, #1 First Division
Horse Comments:
#2 Zero Sugar (5-2) tracked the pace and was second best in his local flat sprint bow in February, and he stretched out, attended the pace, and prevailed by a neck at 9f at OP in March. He returned from a layoff in November and finished second in the Zia Park Derby at 1 1/16 miles.
#5 Amorosa (3-1) is an Iowa-bred colt with top three finishes in 11 of 12 starts. He was off the board for the first time when finishing 6th of 9 in the Zia Park Derby Nov. 25, and he turned back, battled on the pace, and was second best in the restricted Silks Overnight Dec. 19. This is his second start for Chris Hartman and he is back at 1 1/16 miles (5 3-1-0 at 8.5f), and he should impact the pace.
#4 Tap Into This (8-5) was part of the trifecta in all nine starts. He rallied to win three straight races around one turn last year (July, August, October), and he rallied to finish a close third at seven panels in November. He stretches back out in his second start off a layoff and he hit the board in both local routes last year.
#1 First Division (4-1) looked good winning a local entry level affair at this distance on Dec. 12. He figures to save ground stalking the pace.
